A few updates on Blizzcon have come down the pipe as August 3rd approaches. To start it off, Blizzard has put up a "Blizzcon Survival Guide" on the main WoW site, offering handy tips for those venturing to Anaheim. Many of the tips are all purpose vacationing tips, such as making schedules and arriving early for events, but some of them have a delightful Warcraft twist to them:
Bring your gear
Just like your World of Warcraft character, you can rely on a variety of items - equippable, usable, and consumable. Bring a camera, because you never know when its "use" function will come in handy - you will likely see a night elf, murloc, tauren, or other denizen of Azeroth that you want to keep a memento of. Food such as trail mix or an energy bar will regenerate your health as well as provide a temporary "sugar rush" buff. Water restores mana and keeps you hydrated in the midst of all the walking you'll be doing. A backpack (at least 16 slots) will be handy for carrying around these items, including the precious goody bag you'll receive when you pick up your BlizzCon badge. Before packing your bags, take a look at the BlizzCon FAQ, which includes information on prohibited items.
They also suggest hitting the store early and finding some activities in the area to do while attending the convention. As a native Californian I can tell you, if you've never experienced an In'n'Out burger, you owe it to yourself to make the sojurn to the nearest one.
Blizzard also released a press release announcing that actor / comedian Jay Mohr will be acting as MC for many of the conventions events. Mohr is perhaps best known for his role in Jerry Maguire and the popular television show Last Comic Standing but has done a variety of television and film roles over the last 17 years (anybody remember the movie Go, eh?)
