 Spoilers come in many forms!
For those who will be clamoring into bookstores for the release of the seventh Harry Potter book on friday night / saturday morning, Drysc has made it very clear that spoilers on the forums will not be tolerated:
We would like to remind our forum goers of our strong stance against trolling by way of posting spoilers for movies, tv shows, and books. We take these attempts to cause others grief and produce general unrest on these forums very seriously, and we take a harsh stance against any outright or veiled attempts to spoil the enjoyment of others. Posting spoilers can result in a lengthy suspension, up to and most likely a permanent removal of all posting privileges from these forums.
If you are hoping to keep the book a secret while you finish it up, as I myself will be doing, it might be a good idea to avoid the official forums and general chat for a few days, just in case some spoil sport decides to try and ruin it for everybody else.
For those contemplating the unfathomable act of spreading spoilers, keep in mind that, as WoW Insider reports, Aeus on the EU forums is threatening serious action for spoilers.

Pop culture is such that any and everyone is willing to do what it takes to get the scoop. I wouldn't be the least surprised if the front page of every news site is emblazoned with the outcome of the final Potter book by Saturday lunchtime.
And for that matter, one should also heavily consider where and when he buys the book itself, as griefers have been known to go en masse to chain booksellers just to paste signs to the windows and scream the outcome outside the doors.
Get Amazon to mail it to your home, and leave the TV and computer off until your Potter hunger is sated. |
