Adventurer Posts: 423 Joined: 14 Jul 2004 | It's already kind of pushy letting the little guys be Warriors! Gnomes use their brains, I don't see anything 'holy' about them. Gnomes are a good race, but are meant for other things, and being a Holy Knight isn't one of them. |

Thereby there is bound that some, even if they are small, that take up the task to learn weaponry to protect their people. The fact gnomish warriors can wear all kinds of armor and such isn't unrealistic either, being that since their armors is much smaller and so they wouldn't weigh as much. However, I can agree that it's abit unrealistic that the damage is the same on a twohandsword, whether its wielded by a Tauren or a Gnome. But that's more a balance issue, I guess one could get away with saying that gnomes are more agile and so they manage to get cleaner hits being that they are faster or something. I definately oppose the fact that they should be able to be paladins however. The petition asks how they could do war without healing classes, no problems at all. The simple fact is that gnome healers in that case would be those highly skilled in first aid and herbalists that concoct healing potions. "-If the Gnomes did, in fact, not have paladins to aid in the battle against this evil, could the Gnomes not have since been influenced by the Dwarven church into seeing the need for these holy Gnomes?" Well, it's not that easy. A paladin is someone who's faith in his god is un-tainted and so on. I don't have complete knowledge about the Warcraft world, so I don't know much about their gods. But the gnomes being such a scientific race i don't know if they have a god they pray too. And simply converting to dwarven or human believes to become a Paladin seems abit far off, there are other who combat evil than paladins. Converting to a whole another belief just with the point of gaining holy powers isn't divine faith, that's greed or desperation. Furthermore, giving them Paladins would most likely giving them Priests as well, cause it is not likely for a race to have Paladins without Priests. And giving them Paladin just cause have the least class options is a pretty weak argument. That would most likely give them Hunter in my opinion. A society is more likely to have hunters in that case, being that they need food supplies. And the other argument as not having a healing class, as I said earlier. There are other ways to heal. |

I have been playing MMORPGs since the first day Everquest went public, and since that time, I have been a fan of the little people. I don't mean just anyone who is short, I mean the shortest of the short, the gnomes! In Everquest, there were no gnomish paladins either, but the public has since changed Verant's mind. I was a gnome (or the shortest race if gnomes were not a choice) for all my years of MMORPGing, and I would hate to see the shortest people continue to pull a straw that matches their height.
I have created a petition that you can sign asking Blizzard Entertainment to allow Gnomish characters to play as paladins. Please give it a read, and sign it if you agree to what it is saying. If you are like the rest of the people who have signed this petition, and believe that it's time to stop "overlooking" the little people in MMORPGs, make your voices heard!
