Blizzard has announced that there will be special abilities, skills, and weapons available only to certain races but so far have only announced the Undead's Feign death and the Night Elves Shadowmeld ability (and perhaps you can count the Tauren Plainsrunning)  What other racial abilities might the other races have?  Silly, or otherwise, place your musings here...  EXAMPLES

Dwarves - Drunken rage  - instead of impairing their abilities, dwarves are actually strengthened a bit extent by small amounts of alcohol .... 

Trolls - Jungle coloration (they can hide in jungle as night elves can in shadow)

 Orcs-Brutal Strength where they will have something along the lines of Gaining an attack bonus for a short period of time. 

Gnomes-Quick thinking, the gnomes will be able to learn skills and advance in levels quicker then other races becasue of their intelligence. 

Humans-Deception (something they have always been good at it)  They may be able to persuade a NPc to give them items for a cheaper price or let them go someplace normal people would not be allowed.

Orcs - Brutal Strength could be something of the Berserker ability in Warcraft 3: FT, increasing hit points and damage permantly

undead maybe cannabalism, but, they arent ghouls so maybe not, that would be a handy trick to have though

Well maybe if in an expansion another *scourge faction* was released and could have ghouls and aboms in it cannabalism could be implemented.

hey, maybe the scourge fraction could be like Gouls, Neurubians, and some other scourge class" I dunno, just i thought, i would rather have a fraction with the elves if it were up to me

Night Elves do NOT have shadowmeld. How many times do i have to say this?!?!
1 the official forums say so
2 that would make the rogues hide ability useless, everyone who wanted concealment would be a night elf

You are wrong.  The gen con reports, many posts, and even screenshots of character creation all indicate that shadowmeld is in game.  as to your two supposed proofs otherwise: The official forums contradict themselves all the time, they are mostly the same people that post on here.  Secondly: Shadowmeld is much weaker than hide in several ways, you can only shadowmeld at night, you cant move while shadowmelded, you are possibly only partially transparent.  They are still balancing it but i am almost 100% certain that it will remain in game.

Any info on shadowmeld for the Night Elves?

It is currently disabled, but will be in the beta/final game. The person I asked said that it will not only work at night, but be more of an ability that is night-elf specific and will in some way boost evasion. Also, it is not necessarily limited to NE females. Each race will have some ability that makes it unique like shadowmeld for NE

 

Though i am proving myself wrong in the fact shadowmeld exists:

SHADOWMELD WORKS ALL THE TIME!!!

Until i see a reliable source AKA Blizzard employee state what you said is true.  Blizzard would not go against what they had in the game and change it, it is illogical.  Shadowmeld only works at night.  I notice you didnt show us where you got your information or who told you, your most likely just making it up yourself.  When you have proof come back.

Night Elves - They have a natural resistance to Nature. They also have Shadowmeld. (This is a form of "Hide". It basically allows the Night Elf to hide and act as a form of escape.) He told me that they couldn't currently move during Shadowmeld because they wanted to make the Rogue's stealth abilities unique to the Rogue class.

But who really knows.  I am certain shadowmeld in some form or other will make the game, and it makes the most sense that it acts in a way similiar to war3.  But believe what you want.

I want to see nightelves with better abilities:

Sentinel (aka keen sense) - better at detection.

Nature's blessing - good at Herbology + alchemy as well as resistence to nature.

Hows that. I resent a stealth ability that disallows movement. This kind of skill is useless in a MMORPG. Also, if you actually read race descriptions, you will realize that night elves studied arcane arts (aka magic) for a long time, doesn't that make them good wit magic? Shouldn't they make them some magic perks?

As far as I know, MaDcRaZy2KS, the night elf society has since banned the use of arcane magic, and moved to a worship of the goddess Elune as the new source of power.

Yeah, the Night Elves will not use arcane magic, not for the last thousand years or so anyway.  That was why the high elves split off.

But they do get a Nature sense that allows them to sense the presence of useful herbs in the area, as I understand it.

orcs: bad old blood: when activated, the orc get large advantages in armor, strenght, damage and speed at the cost of hit points. the hit points continue to drop until u die or deactivate Bad Old Blood (for graphic effects, skin should turn red)

Not such a bad idea ignore, But don't the orcs need demon blood to become in such a state?

Its a good idea but Jinxz has a point you have to have Demon blood for that and i Don't think thats somthing you can turn off and on.

Although i'm not  trying to critise in any way Silenara......I think the Humans are getting screwed lol I mean what about the humans cool powers.. O wait we are human we don't have any how could one equalize this. Don't flame me for this idea. I just feel us human lover rpgers are at a disadvantage. Though lowering prices would be nice but if chrisma was any way implamented into the game it might have the same effect? O well any thoughts

I've been searching the forums for info about racial abilities and the like and hers something i found:

What are the racial traits?

[I]Currently, I've only got the answer for three of the races:

  • Dwarves: Find Treasure & Frost Resistance
    [LI]Humans: Additional Skill Points
    [LI]Undead:Underwater Breathing, Immune to Charm, Fear & Sleep and Shadow Resistance[/I]

    I believe NE have natural find herb ability too.

    NE do have find herb ability thats why they are so good wanderers because they can fix medicin easy

    That's the point. it is demon blood. Where to get it? One could either say there's still some taint left (but that would be bad for the story) or one could make it a spell for the warlock or a potion.

    Silenara: I guess you're right, one shouldn't be allowed to control it. Perhaps one could give the warlocks the activation spel, and then druids and shamans would have to deactivate it?

    Think NE also will have a speical ability for finding herbs,flowers for making things in forests.

    I would also like Trolls to climb trees, and build homes up there along with blending in them.
