Hi all,

I recently converted from Lineage to WoW and have gone straight to warrior as I have always been a tank by nature.  In this light I looked through the talent trees and decided that I was going to go full on defensive talents... and thus far it is working out well for me both solo and in parties.  A couple of questions:

Is the 10% patk loss factored before or after the Battle Shout... example if my max damage is 100, if the loss is factored before the buff I get a) and if factored after the buff I get b) and more loss from the stance.

a) 100-10% = 90+56 = 146 max damage

b) 100+56 = 156-10% = 140 max damage

Secondly I was convinced that I should go fully defensive talents ( seems rare and suits my playstyle ) however I found in the Arms talents there is a skill to maintain rage when I change stances.  I play mainly in defensive stance currently, even when soloing however the loss of rage when I change stances is annoying nonetheless... So if I learnt that talent to max it would require 10 points in arms talents... would you say it is worth it?

Hey you don't need to go all in for Defense. 31 points in Protection is all you need to end-game tank. There are many who feel you need more to get the job done. I say lern2play.

As for going LESS than 31 in Prot - you can offtank virtually anything with 15 pts in Protection. This makes the damage dealing 'cookie cutter' 31/5/15 build so popular.

Good luck!

I have a 5/5/41 spec atm. >_>

5 in the imp crits and parries from the Arms and Fury trees. =o Although I might go back and change that, make it 8/5/41 (for the imp HS :x)

unless your the main tank for a endgame raiding guild there isnt any reason to have more than 11 points in prot. Most would argue that even that is too much, as its just not needed.

Chexr, have you ever tanked before, seriously? I mean cmon, 11 points? If you only have 11 points or fewer in defensive, then you are not an efficient tank. In fact, you might as well just dump those points and put them into Fury. Right now I have 10/5/36. I find this optimal for my role in the guild.

It's factored in before any buffs.

As to 11 points in prot - you just totally wasted 11 points. The only real reason to go into prot at all is Defiance, and possibly Last Stand.
