They have advantage in the fields with the use of the elements either helping the shamen or defending him. Thrall himself is a shamen and he is one of the greatest warriors on Azeroth. The shamen class is very noble and strong and thats why I think people like them. They make the Horde very noble and make them earn respect and dignity after so many years of demonic control. |

Plus their totems affect the group, and some are quite powerful. I doubt one on one faction combat will be common. Most I've seen was in groups. I played on in stress test and had no problem PvE at all, where as died a lot being a hunter, but I still love being a hunter too. If everyone went for the "Best" character in PvP we'd only have warriors and mages, and that would make for a boring game I look forward to trying a class that isn't concidered an "uber" class and succeeding at it. I think it will make victories sweeter. If i battle an alliance warrior of the same level, then he's the one dishonored if i win, where as if he defeats me, it's not that big a deal because I was "expected " to lose. But again, I dont expect to be cought alone to often, especially in alliance lands. |

I just enjoyed the ability to do everything a little bit. Group needs a tank, I can do that with a good healer to back me up. group needs a healer, I can do that VERY well. Group needs another DPS, I can do that too. I don't think I ever got passed up for a group in OB. I played on Test 15 PvP with my Shaman. Won a few, lost a few duels but fared very well in PvP raids overall. The last few days of OB were PvP free-for-alls on 15 with raid groups going out ALL the time. So many options with the Shaman, thats what I like!

I'm curious as to why each of you are picking shaman over other caster classes? Don't get me wrong, I'm not badmouthing shaman in any way, I'm just particularly interested in why people pick this class.
Instead of pets they get totems, which never run out and can be used 4 (one of each element) at once. They get offensive elemental spells, mostly (as far as i know) fire and lightning spells. They get some defensive spells and healing spells, as well as underwater breathing, spirit wolf (self shape-shift) and some other to-be-revealed cool abilities.
That being said, it seems like they're more geared towards being a supporter. I know they say every class can solo -- but not every class can PvP. For those of you not interested in PvPing, I'm sure this is a great class for all areas of your gaming experience. But -- for those of you that are, and even if you're not -- why'd you pick Shaman over the other (particularly caster) classes?
