Ok now there isnt much i know about the stats of the races but i think the night elves may make a good rogue, it is what i plan to be and have planned a long time ago, does anyone know if the night elves would be a bad choice? if so why? thanks.

Every race is meant to be a 'good' one, as are all the classes, and the race/class combinations. I think that you mean is that because Night Elves have Shadowmeld, or, at least, are supposed to, they will be good for being a rogue. After having this discussion before (about Night Elves, Shadowmeld and the rogue ability, Stealth), I still don't know about Shadowmeld: whether it's a no go or not. But I think that Shadowmeld is only meant to work at dusk, possibly when standing still or moving slowly, which doesn't give Rogues too great an advantage because they already have Stealth. true, it may be a high level ability, and Shadowmeld might be a lower level one (I really don't know a thing about this), but to find out, you would probably have to ask one of the beta testers who is a Night Elf Rogue.

Well the stats bonuses are that high on specific Race/Class combo, and races that choose a specific class gets a good boost to that class primary stat.

true, a night elf is a pretty effective rogue because i always thought that a night elf would be better suited to sneaking around , especially with shadowmeld.

shadowmeld is uselss as a rogue.  it does not make it any more effective then stealth.  its the same thing, except you cant move around, or it breaks.  its good if your a night elf/any other class, caue then u can hide too....but for rogues it makes no diff.

however, NE rogues are great.

we have a natural dodge bonus. plus the odd time we die, we get to wisp form, and get 50% speed time back to our body. we also have more agility then everyone else... so rogues are better.

combat rogues say that humans work better. because of the sword bonus, but i disagree.  only cause i am a dagger rogue. daggers with poison out damage swords.  ( this has been tested with two lvl 30 rogues, with exact same gear and skills, with the exception of the weapons.)  i also know two lvl 60, that prefer the speed, since we do so much end game damage, swords are simply a setback.

Shadowmeld stacks as a stealthbonus when you stand still, decreasing your chance to be discovered.

NE rogue is a very capable class/combo.

The Shadowmeld talent says that for Rogues/Druids it improves their Stealth/Prowl. I don't think they mean that only when you're standing still, as I've played a NE Rogue and a Human Rogue, and was uncovered much less as my NE.

People ought to speak from knowledge rather than ignorance. It has been tested and Shadowmeld is equivalent to an extra level in MoD (and 5 levels of MoD equate to 3 levels higher in Stealth). Otherwise Shadowmeld itself is not particularly good except to use when you want to save Stealth or Stealth is not available.

I reckon that probably the best use of Shadowmeld is to only put 4 levels in MoD and use the extra point elsewhere. YMMV.

Well one thing that is great about shadowmeld is that it is on a seperate time than stealth is and you can go shadowmeld then to stealth if for some reason that your stealth was broken

Ive heard it works this way.  Rouges naturally get a 5point stealth.  With the talent skills, you can get an extra 5 points, making you twice as hard to spot.  shadow meld adds one more point to this.  so a human rogue with maxed out stealth woudl be at a 10, where a night elf would be at an 11.  Not a huge difference, but its still there.

it really doesnt make a difference once you get to the higher levels. i have a 70 NE rogue and a 66 human rogue and honestly i havent seen any difference in stealth regardless of what anyone thinks. every race has their own special things but in higher levels it doesnt mean much. the only thing i can think of that would separate the races at higher levels is the rep bonus you get with humans. when you are 60+ faction rep is a huge thing and getting an extra 5% is definitely an advantage.

NE rouges are disliked due to the sterotype of that, "Oh, Night Elves are all huntards and that makes them *I hate this word* n00bz!" While it is a well known fact that in most BG's most NE's you see ARE in fact a hunter, NE rouges are just not thought of since most people dislike being a race that chooses mostly a class most non-hunter people hate. It's really a stupid thing but none the less a sterotype which affects their reputation. Now I played a NE warrior (not a rouge, I have a BE for that) and even then I got psts saying, " LOL a NE Warrior! Why not just reroll a hunter you *shudder* n0oB!" So it doesn't matter much.
