That said, your wants for playstyle is almost exactly in synch with what I've experienced playing a paladin. I personally enjoy it for the fire/forget nature of their auras, and buffs I can provide to help others. The bard concept of the paladin appeals to me, as well as beating things senseless with a hammer or sword.
Basically, I like melee/support, ranged combat always felt too detached for my liking in a RPG, and rogues/warriors just feel too one dimensional. |

After a couple years of this however I'm finding I'd like to be able to fight back a little better. I tried out Paladin for stress/OB and got mine up to level 22 before things closed down. I enjoyed her GREATLY and I believe paladin will be my main character upon release. (p.s. Everyone appreciated my constent rezzes during the chaos of Dreadlords in Ironforge on the last night, hehehe) |

However, WoW has endeavored to create a desirable character that can sit safely on either side of the line--or on top of it. Paladins are truly the first warrior/healer hybrid, and as such, they'll do pretty well as a solo class or a PvP class. Blizzard has promised not to let the paladin class become insignificant due to the fact the warriors are generally more versatile and priests have more magical allure. I personally am playing as a paladin because, like others have said, it suits my character and playstyle the best. Also, it's an alliance-only class and is limited to a sparse number of races (although it seems there are greedy gnomes petitioning for the class). Hence, the paladin will be a strong, all-around race that will most likely be a suprisingly powerful dark horse candidate for PvP melee. Also, I don't anticipate seeing too many of them in the beginning, and I hate seeing clones of myself in a MMORPG, cause, well, in a world this big, there's just no excuse for it. Hope that was what you were lookin' for  ~Tae -- ~Olde Paladin Canticle Taeura Snowglave, Level 38 Paladin (Erased from existence...until November 23rd) |

All I know is when I played Paladin in FF< I was well respected for my ability to keep a mob on me the whole time, a job not many do well. I was even told I was the best several people have ever seen. And I plan to do it again in the World of Warcraft. |

I played my pali with my husbands hunter and even though I had a big BA 2h sword he and his pet stole aggro from me all the time. >.< Guess we're just too pretty to piss 'em off enough :P (lol, j/k) |

Defend the weak fight evil etc...you figure they fight with honor too. Wheres the honor in a lvl 50 paladin beating the snot outa lvl 18 just trying to get to tauren mills. I am the weak..lol...and hes beating the snot outa me ...chasing me on horseback.....lol. Its all good though... I do say that the Immune shield should be 100% in pve for party use in instances and tanking....But do what they did for mages..in PVP dumb it down some....give it a 50% resistance to melee and magic. Not trying to say overpowered...I dont think they are....I do think that 100% immune to everything is too much in PVP. I cast mana shield...but magic takes me out....I mean you can blast through a mages defenses still...or even Priests....so why do the Paladins get the 100% shield vs everything? I would love to see horde get an Anti-Paladin....and dumb down the shaman into more of a mage type vs mage/melee from hell. But hey thats me. From a horde players prospective....I like the paladin class just not how they give you one abillity that 99% of the time saves your life or extends the battle by reseting things in your favor. Full heal and start over while your opponent has used mana up or is low on health ....kinda bites from our end. I do think a trade off for a Shield Dumb Down should be maybe more support spells. Or Resurection spell...something...I dunno much about PLD but I do know your DPS isnt that Hot...maybe some debuffs. I dunno.... Eq2-burned the Dvd |

Adventurer Posts: 242 Joined: 11 Feb 2005 | At level 45, I love being able to solo three level 47 mobs at a time. I always thought pallies wetre the least understood class in DAOC, and I loved my healing friar. WOW pallies are very similar, low damage but tough as nails and decent healers, which is the most underrated ability in MMOs. |
Apprentice Posts: 6 Joined: 21 Oct 2005 | I decided to Play a Paladin due to teh fact that I really dont like playing with other people for a long amount of time due to the fact most people just irritate me so I figured a Paladin would be great for solo work or if I need to enlist someone elses aid I can make sure what Im working on gets finished. |

I'm pretty new to WoW though I've been trying to gather as much info as possible on it. I've never played a MMORPG in my whole life and WoW is the first one to actually interest me. I just had to sign up and join the discussion  Anyway, I'm so gonna play a human paladin. Nowdays I always play as a paladin in all RPGs because they match me the best. Beeing truly good, defend the week and hunt evil to the end of the world is just the way I want to play. Rushing into battle taking the enemy head on with a huge weapon protected by the gods is the way to do it. No sneaking, no ranged weapons just owerwhelming power and defence. And beeing able to heal myself afterwards is just as practical as it gets
Let's get some more action to this paladin board shall we?
