This is a thread that is a collection of information in an effort to chase down how to get the Polymorph: Turtle spell that is reported to be in the 1.11 patch. If you have any new information on this please post it and I will update this post.
HISTORY:
With patch 1.11 there are two new polymorph spells added. Polymprph Turtle and Polymorph Pig. The Pig spell has been found and is the result of a 3 part quest series that starts with Archmage Xylem.
It has pretty much been determined that either blizzard is intentionally misleading us or other polymorphs (cow, chicken, etc).
If anyone finds these, could we get a verification that this spell is actually in the game? If it is a drop, can you give us a hint as to where? Many are beginning to suspect that the drop rate is bugged.
WHAT WE KNOW FROM BLUE POSTS:
From Tseric in a thread called 'Dev Response' in the Mages Forum:
Something that did not make the original release, yet received some commentary before and afterwards were methods of distinguishing a Mage's Polymorph targets. Spell drops are being added to allow Mages to Polymorph targets into pigs or turtles, in addition to sheep. This will help mages seperate "who poly'd what?" and add some flavor to Poly. These have not had a drop location confirmed yet, but will likely be found in the world, rather than trainable.
From Hortus in a thread called '[Bug]? Polymorph isn't affected by DR if.' in the Test Realm Forum:
We've tested all three versions of polymorph very extensively and are satisfied with the interaction of all three.
From Tseric in a thread called 'New mage polymorph spells, Blue?' in the General Forum:
Where did you hear about a chicken or cow? I never said anything like that.
The turtle should exist, but drop in another venue than where you found the pig. Sorry, but I can't draw you a map. :/
So from this we can conclude that there is only A Sheep, Pig, and Turtle in the game. The other polymorph's that are listed on Thottbot's website are incorrect or cast by NPCs only. (an explanation of where the conclusion I mentioned above comes from)
THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN TRIED:

[*]Doing the Soothing Turtle Bisque Quest
[*]The named turtle in Hitherlands has been killed multiple times...
[*]Folks have more than tried the Poly:Pig/Sheep then kill various targets with no luck at a drop... The Raceway has been exhasted...
[*]Over 1000 Turles in Tanris have lost thier lives (as well as many in the Hitherlands, Southshore, and pretty much all other areas where Turtles can be found)...
[*]The named Turtle in BFD has been killed at least 5 times with no spell drop...
[*]The old mage quest giver in the Dustwallow swamp area has been visited with no luck...
[*]And the fact that countless NPC killings have taken place on PTR, yet nobody has reported anykind of world drop (credible report) kinda makes a guy rethink that it's an outside-the-instance sort of drop...
[*]Talked to Narian Soothfancy in Steemwheedle Port
[*]Looked in the DM Library for a quest related to this

[*]Anyone tried checking out the huge dead turtle bodies/skeletons in darkshore? (Idea from Vanisher)
[*]Does it drop in the Cache of the Firelord - Hard to find people with Aqual Quintessence, but has anyone tried this?
[*]Has anyone seen this as a drop in ZG or in Scholomance?
