Master Looter Posts: 2210 Joined: 21 Jan 2004 | Im personally sick of mages crying. Dammage mitigation has no effect on mages spells vs Plate,mail,leathers... They have several instant dammage spells and a snare to bat. The abillity to blink out of anything and drop another bombardment of spells. You are obviously a pve player. Mages are glass cannons....the drawback of the abillity to bombard another player with a slew of spells before they can react comes with a price... I simply dont want to hear you guys cry over dammage in a party vs a mob...Aoe support...and abillity to do the same dmg to plate as you do on a cloth wearer is an even trade. Dammage mitigation affects my hunter and rogue.....Vs plate wearer I can lose 30-50% of the dmg I could have done cause of mitigation....with spells..Armor doesnt affect it. Your basing your bitching off a mob that others can solo. That isnt game breaking...cry me a river. My first main in november was a mage... I know wtf i am talking about. Decked out frost or Fire mage can WTF pwn warriors with ease........Can a rogue? Hell no. I barely can on hunter and thats with mana pots cause the bastards can mitigate off my dammage. A warrior MS spec can swing hard...but they swing slowly.....have no snares or escape abillity. WTF do you want ...Fricking Plate Armor and double the mana pool....cry someplace else I have no simpathy for whiney mages. Eq2-burned the Dvd |

"mages are fine stop crying" is not an intelligent answer to my post. however the rest of ur reply did make some valid points. the best being that yes i am speaking about a very small part of the game. its still something i think needs to be looked at. i'd like to see something small added to the mages abilitys like a +1000 armour for 10 secs with a 3 min cooldown spell. what do people think of this? |

Posts: 53 Joined: 10 Oct 2005 | valewalker we have only 2 instants fireblast does about 500ish damage 8 second cooldown and cone of cold 10 second cooldown does 340sih damage......doesnt really qualify as "several" IMO including talents yeah we do get 3 choices presence of mind ... on a 3 minute cooldown .... blastwave 45 sec cooldown does fireblast damage and improve arcane explosion ... 200-250 damage.. but does drain mana.. we do have a right to whine... why be a mage when warriors/rogues/warriors can come very close and sometimes outdamage us in certain situations as well as usually having better HP and parry/evasion etc... we also get our final offensive ability at 26 .... the same spells no new spells for our utility for about 34 levels + raids lemme give you a rundown from a normal fight as a high frostmage / little arcane mage build cast frostbolt fireblast frostbolt frostbolt frost nova cone of cold fireblast.... same rinse and repeat scenario over and over again.... Other classes have just as much burst potential as us .... elemental shammies... fury or arms warriors... rogues but without being a such a fragile target... no i don't mind being very easy to kill i just want some more spells that add to my utility... i definetly would love invisibility... i don't see how it was overpowered... couldn't cast it in combat ... lasted 5 minutes... could wear off randomly....warlocks had a buff to counter it... etc as any caster resist are more painful considering that 1 it cost mana still ... 2 still has cooldown ... and three it takes time to cast spells fireball 3 seconds frostbolt 2.5 scorch 1.5 etc as to wear a rogue can spam SS or gouge BS and if it evades no biggy you still have your stunning capabilities to back you up as to wear a mage only has 1 type of root witha 21-25 second cooldown... and again damage mitigation for your rogue / hunter (which i have one as well) is different as rogues can have such a far range ( 41 yards if specced) and still having plenty of good kiting techniques saying if your rogue vs a paladin you can miss majority of his hits while hitting your small hits on him....as well as your infamous stunlock killer to most =p .... i really just want my talents redone and improved and maybe a bit more spells... then im happy... as much as it sucks to say this game is slowly moving in rock , paper , scissors pvp... other then that IMHO you should STFU unless you have a non-ebayed mage thats been 60 for more then 2-3 months... i never whine in the rogues forums about all there complaints and IMO you shouldn't whine about ours unless you have a 60 one =p .... |

How I Mine 4 Fish? Posts: 85 Joined: 2 Sep 2005 | hopefully in one of the upcoming patches, they will give the mage talent tree a makeover like the hunters in 1.7 and the druids in 1.8. I still love my gnome mage nonetheless... |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 722 Joined: 2 Jun 2004 | All classes are being looked at and the remaining ones that haven't got makeovers will get one. I'm not sure which class is next, If I remember correctly mages are 2nd or 3rd on the list. So will be a few more patches before we get our makeovers. If a makeover doesn't come when I hit 60 I'll go back and level up my cow druid. |

Posts: 53 Joined: 10 Oct 2005 | valewalker .... hm no idea what that means anyways mages "love patch" will just be some talent changes im sure horrid ones will be turned into ok ones and combustion is surely to be changed other then that maybe ice barrier absorbs more and arcanepower has like a shorter duration or something other then that i highly doubt any other significant changes will happen to us we will just be able to do about 200ish more damage then other class but die A LOT easier mages are ok but we definently lack spell choice if i was to go strict frost but only using fire for fireblast and arcane for blink and such i'd only have 2 spells i would use per normal fight frostbolt and frost nova basically to sum up our lives its frostbolt frostbolt fireblast frostbolt frost nova cone of cold repeat using ice block and barrier when needed.... as well as are arcane utility pretty much lack luster on versatility for damage options as well as fun factor... =p we will see huge changes in the expansion but so will other classes... on top of that warlocks with good gear can have huge burst options if specced right they can outburst us lol which is a bit lame since they are the DEBUFFING class ....anyway i'd suggest lowbie mages rerolling warlock they do own know if the player is smart regaurdless what others say |

Ok i have been reading on the main mage forum on the official wow site about how gimped mages are. Personally i dont think they are that bad off. Raids we usually come out in the top 5 or so. Only reason why i dont sometimes is when i die more then i should. In 5 man instances im usually on top with about 30% of the dmg for the group. Soloing is fine as normal mobs are pansies and die easy. The only problem i have with mages is elites. Both my hunter mate and pally mate can solo elites a great deal easier than myself. A good test is the goblin boss in Maraudon. I have yet to solo him, even thouigh i have tried about 4 times. I have to use every trick in the book and the closest i have got to killing him is about 3% health left. My mates however can solo him no problem. The problem is i feel that we dont have enough dmg/armour ratio. The other cloth wearers tend to be in a better position. Priests may not have the same dmg dealing capacity as mages but shield and healing give them far greater survival posibilities unless fighting a large group. Locks not only have a voidy to take the agg but can make spellstones to absorb magic dmg, healthstones and can sacrifice there voidy for a shield. Plus they have decent dmg dealing potential. The only things mages have that increase there survivability are frost nova and mage armour. FN is good but well only useful for a few secs and mage armour is useless for a class that relys on its mana to survive. Without it we are screwed a great deal more so than a priest or lock. So the problem isnt how much dmg we do but our survivability.
The other issue i think is Pyroblast, yeah u know what im talking about. I mean its a 6 second spell that hardly does anymore dmg than fireball. The only thing that makes it worth while is the dot after it hits, which isnt even that great. My highest crit with this stupid spell is no more than 1550 while my highest crit with fireball is no more than 1450. Being a full fire mage i am sick of hearing about a warrior who just critted for 2200, or a hunter for 2000, or a damn lock for over 3000.
