Are druids a decent class, or are they kind of ...bad?

Anyone who has played a druid, can they tell me?

Right now a lot of complaining is going on about the not-so-useful animal forms, the WoW Dev team is looking at the Druid class right now, expect perty large changes to the class soon...

I think that every class is good, or will be good, and equally so when the full version comes out. But it is at the moment only the Beta, so Blizzard are still making adjustments to all the races, classes, etc.

Oh, and there's a video by juniorx at some german fansite which I can't remember the link to but I think that it's somewhere in the News archives here, which is over an hour long and is about a druid who's just started- it's pretty good, and shows quite a bit of hand-to-hand combat, rather than spells, which the druid seems to be pretty good at.

Dude. Druids any good? Are you kidding? They are about the most underpowered class right now in the beta but STILL there are Druids kicking ass in PvP (or so I have heard). I mean they got it all. Melee, Healing, Direct Damage, Buffs, DoT, Shapeshifting and you name it, buster.

Underpowered? I don't think so. Druids are probably one of the most powerful and versatile classes in the game.

i just made a druid last night, and i love it.  My main character is a level 26 Rogue, and I love the new playstyle the druid offers.  I dont have any forms yet, since I only made it up to level 6, but I hope to get some tonite.  I am really looking forward to playing a druid!

I'm currently a lvl 41 druid, and I can say druid are good.  Sure there some tweaks feral could use, but the class is still very good.  I can solo elite mobs two lvls above me normally, can be time consuming though, heal well in a group, decent tank, decent dps in cat, and decent nuke caster.  You can spec out to be a balance/feral, balance/restore, feral/restore, etc..  I  agree with other posts, that maybe they could change form appearances as you lvl, or be able to customize your form?  Why does Dire bear look the same as bear form?  Another suggestion I have is Dire Cat form?  It would seem logical that if you ahd dire bear, you might get dire cat...But overall, I love my character and I'm very happy I chose the class.

Ok. There's a lvl 59 Druid and a lvl 59 Mage/Priest/Shaman/Rogue/Warrior/ who race to 60 by grinding only. Druids come in last. I'll tell you that.

For fun, druid rocks.

I have just got cat form and I'm as happy as Larry.  As an NE, I kind of envied rogues who can move with shadowmeld - with cat-form I've got it!  Of course, I don't have all the backstabbing and armour advantages of a roggue but I do have all the great druid buffs.  The main advantage to me is that I can get unseen to where I want to be - eg to a target surrounded by mobs - and deal with the closest mobs rather than have to eliminate a mob camp one by one.  Or I can just scout better.  As a natural solo-player, this is fantastic.  Thank you blizzard

Druids shine the most 1-59. When Druids hit 60, it's much harder for them to make "significant improvements" than it would another class, such as a Warrior gaining an Ashkandi or a Mage obtaining Staff of the Shadow Flame. There are some "+feral damage" items in the game, but they are far and few between. They can only be obtained from one of the world dragons, from a quest in Ahn'Qiraj 40, as a drop in Naxxarams, or by obtaining the legendary staff. The thing is, though, is that no matter how high a Druids attack power is.. his damage will still be lacking.

I constantly see people state they want more forms, more forms, more forms! This is most definately the wrong path. That's the problem with Druids right now. They have two many forms and are spread too thin. They have a plethora of forms, but a severe lack of actual abilities in these forms. Compare a Priest in Shadowform to a Druid in Moonkin form for example. The Priests gain abilities like Mindflay, Vampiric Embrace, increased damage, more damage mitigation. What does Moonkin get? A critical chance aura and an armor boost. Armor is useless against casters, and the critical chance isn't that important if your spells aren't going to do that much damage to begin with.

My first character, and my only level 60 character at this point, is a Druid whose been to every instance available at this point, from Molten Core to Naxxarams. I recently retired him because I do not approve in the direction in which Blizzard is seemingly taking with the class.

Its tough to just generalize 'druids' since people play them so differently. IMO, druids shine at 60 when they start gearing up as a resto druid. Druids are able to heal longer than anyone else with consistent low rank heals. Druids have the best healing/mana used ratio in the game when using low ranks.

While feral/balance has always been underpar, I am not worried about it with all the buffs we are getting for the burning crusade. Feral druids, especially as of yesterday with the new buff to armor/HP in bear form, are extremely powerful. The dps of cats, from some videos I've seen, is awesome supposedly. When it comes to balance, the dps and sustainability has been improved a ton in TBC, although I agree that the shadowpriest still has the edge. I'm dying to get in beta cause I have pretty much end game gear for resto and balance, and I want to see what a moonkin can really do.

Hmmm, well, imo druid is the best class that WoW offers. With all the forms that you can have when your choosing a druid class, you can tank, heal and do DPS. I goes Drood powa, I are dr00d mastor! GIEF COW BUFFS!!!
