Druid Shape Shifting

It's well known that Druids will be able to shift into a variety of shapes - bear, cougar, bird, squirrel, maybe another that I'm missing.

Will these all be available to the Druid from the start, or will they unlock as the Druid levels up? If they are all available from the start, then I assume the Druid will get better at them as he/she progresses.

From the Start: Would be cool because you don't have to wait, but would almost be a little anticlimactic since you wouldn't have any cool new animals to look foward to.

Unlocked as Druid Levels: Would suck a bit since you would have to struggle through the opening levels without the benefit of the melee animal, or the rogue animal.

Or maybe the druid starts with a basic type of each animal, and gets better types as he/she levels.

Any thoughts? I've read quite a bit on ye ol' druids, but maybe someone already has explained this and I just haven't seen it yet.

I heard somewhere that you get your first animal at level 10. I think it was in a preview, but can't remember where. At any rate, druids haven't been stress-tested by Blizzard yet, so we'll see. BTW, you forgot the underwater animal.

I think the druid will start out being able to learn a new form as a class-specific spell (just like how mages can learn their basic spells), and maybe throughout the game you can learn new forms. I would hope animal forms become more powerful as you use them, although how, I wouldn't know. It'd be kinda funny to see "Your bear form ability has increased to 49" etc. Frankly, I'm just excited to see what other forms we can be (I wouldn't play druids if they can only use 5 animals).

I don't think druids will be able to morph at level 1. Remember, druids still have cool spells like entangle roots. And you will still be moderately powerful in your elf/tauren form.

I realized that although druids are "jack of all trades," they don't really have much in the terms of ranged attacks. Maybe I'll get a bow.

Yea, i agree. i think that to make the game flow better, the stronger animals will be later on in lvls you wouldnt want TO uber a shapeshift at the early lvls. I think , depending on the amount of animals, that you will get one spell for shapeshifting like every maybe 5 or ten lvls.
