Adventurer Posts: 337 Joined: 11 Apr 2004 | I for one love the idea. I love the hunter class. its by fare one of the best ranged classes iv played in an mmo and its not evon done yet. but there is just something wrong when a hunter (wich is basicly a ranger from other mmo's) cant blend into his suroundings. |
Master Looter Posts: 2384 Joined: 28 Sep 2003 | The ambush skill is already in the game as a rogue ability. Now I don't think I will be playing a hunter anymore because they are really pet dependant. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 788 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | So you believe that even though the hunter would be immobile, it should be in the game because rogues can already stealth (so only one stealth class should exist in your opinion)? |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 658 Joined: 26 Jul 2004 | What about shadomeld, we are unsure if this is to be implemented or not. And this is exactly like the hunter ability that you want. too may people are being able to turn invisable. |
Adventurer Posts: 337 Joined: 11 Apr 2004 | I consider my self to be a prity darn good hunter (irl) iv ben doing it sence i was 7 and have never seen a year that i dont bring in a good size dear. one major thing you have to know when hunting is how to keep your self invisable to the pray that you are hunting. staying down wind and moving with out making to much sound. and not moving when it is in your best intrest. i think it would realy add to the hunter if thay hade some sort of camiflage. im not saying that thay should be a stelthy pvp class. just that thay should have the ability to conseal them self at least agenst the beast that thay are hunting. |

Adventurer Posts: 337 Joined: 11 Apr 2004 | ROFL. ya i never realy considerd that. maby thay would need to make it a skill you can only use when your pet is not with you. i cant realy see the pet having that ability. maby the hunter could conseal the pet. but ya lol it would be kinda of funny to see. Kiteara Setherns pet. but not see sehtern anywhere around. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 788 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | I figured the hunters supernatural bond with his pet would allow him to keep him hidden and silent next to the hunter :) |
Looking For Group Posts: 140 Joined: 1 Jun 2004 | sorry but personally I think stealth for a hunter would totally unbalance the game...hunters are already by FAR the strongest class in the game giving them stealth on top of it would kill it |

And you base this statement on what, Cabbage? Hunters pets have a grand total of one skill and pretty much suck, and their ranged damage is ok, but not great. Seeing as how they're not even finished yet, calling them by FAR the strongest class is a pretty bold (and incorrect) statement. |
Looking For Group Posts: 140 Joined: 1 Jun 2004 | hunters pet dmg is being boosted by the time retail comes out to be more balanced to their lvl if u read the patch notes that wil make the hunter class by far the most powerful class you can already slay monsters that are 3 and 4 lvls higher than u with ur dbl and triple shot before they can even get close to you now once pets dmg is boosted hunters will be unstoppable |

Cabbage, if you are going to enter intelligent discourse with me, please take the time and effort to use whole words. Trying to read your posts makes my brain hurt. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 788 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | I could see a crocodile being very stealthy. They hide VERY well in their swamps. Plus, its a moot point anyways because aren't they going to let hunters take skills from one of their pets and train it on their other pets anyways? So you will still have all matter of crazy chimera-skilled beasts running tooling around as it is. |

I believe that actually IS the point, though I don't think they're the mobs exact skill per se, but more like a warrior or a rogues skill. Guess we'll have to wait for the patch to go live and see. |
Master Looter Posts: 2314 Joined: 4 Feb 2004 | Hunters learn skills that they can teach all of their pets (like 'growl', etc.). This makes it so that when you tame a new pet, you can train it right off the bat, without having to worry about re-finding a trainer, or whatever. I think there'll be a few abilities that'll make that pet unique, but the backbone of each pets skill line(s) seem to be able to be the same. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 788 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | Ahh, I was under the impression that all skills pets would get would be able to be taught to another pet. The obvious con is everyone's pet being the same. The not so obvious pro being that if they didn't do this, everyone would use the same animal pet and they would still be the same, only now they would look exactly the same too. It takes alot of cool factor to justify a gimp factor. Especially in a pvp world or a game with raiding content. And I'm looking at both in WoW. You can tell which side I am for :) |

Master Looter Posts: 2210 Joined: 21 Jan 2004 | So hiding and using radar isnt enough? Dont forget NE Hunters can use Meld and do that to people........ I do think maybe if you are near foilage and stand still for 3 seconds you go into See Through form...like when you spot a rogue stealthed...still hard to see but not totally unseen. that would be doable and makes sense. Problem is.....if you ever played a rogue....it is also asking to get nailed too ...... Silly hunters using traps and melding ontop...I just blind you off the damn things....wait till you walk off the trap...and beat the holy hell outa you.....(ne hunters). I think it would help to hide you durring questing and resting...or scouting...that is a good idea...but I would call for a radar reduction range durring that camo form. Eq2-burned the Dvd |

Just read this idea on the beta boards.
The idea that hunters could go invisible but not be able to move. So you could hide and then jump people. It fits the class design, and the lack of mobility means we don't step on rogues toes much. The original suggestion felt we should get a crit on the way out of stealth, but I'd rather get the ability to drop a free trap effect directly on top of the first target we attack when we come out.
what do you guys think? Good, or just one of those things that sounds good when its 330 in the morning?
