1. We should be able to control our mount. It shouldn't feel like we are just walking faster than usual. Eventhough I have yet to ride a mount in-game, I assume currently it is same as normal walking except that it is much faster and that you can see you are on a mount. But, what I think we should be able to handle it in a different way, such as the two left and right arrow keys to turn the mount, the up arrow key to speed it up and the down arrow key to slow it down. So, to get the mount going I should press the up arrow key several times, then it will start to run and I can speed up the running by pressing the up arrow key more times. However, there should be a maximum speed for a specific mount. Then, to slow it down a bit you can press the down arrow key once or twice, or should be able to stop it quickly by repeatedly pressing the down arrow key. And this should take sometime to master properly controlling your mount.

3. At the early stage of the aquisition the mount should not be very tame. It shouldn't do everything as the owner says, but as it gets used to the owner it should be more friendly for the commands.
4. Also every mount should be unique with a different color, a different size and a differen speed. And not only that we should buy a mount from a mount breeder, but we should be able to tame wild mounts also. Taming wild mounts should be a seperate profession and requires lot of effort. When you get higher in the mount taming skill you should be able to: 1. Fail less in taming a mount. 2. Tame higher level or higher speed mounts. 3. Tame well so that the mount will be more responsive to the owner.
5. And we should be able to trade mounts between players.
6. And also mounts should age and slow down their speed with age. But, it should take months in RL time for a mount to get really old and die.
7. Since mounts can age, we should be able to tell the age of a mount by looking at their portrait.
8. Also there should be different accessories for mounts like different types of saddles etc.
9. In addition to that players should be able to own multiple mounts. Specially the mount tamers.
I realy like the arow idea. that would make it feal alot more like your on a mount. alot of what your talking about sounds a heck of alot like the hunter pet. wich isnt a bad idea ither. it be fun to slowly build a record with your pet. the only thing i can say that i realy dont agree with you on is the mount death if not fed properly. im sorry but thats a lil harsh. pets cost 100 gold as it is now and on top of that thay are going to cost evon more with the new skill system. thats a huge hunk of change to lose. also i realy dont like the idea of mounts ageing. i mean realy its a game not real life here. anything that would couse you to lose your mount that you have a huge investment in is going to couse alot of problems.
In my idea, the only thing which is common to the hunter's pet is the feeding. However, I suggest that feeding a mount is different from feeding a pet. You have to feed the pet regularly like every 10-20 minutes or so, but you wouldn't have to feed a mount that frequently, but more like every few hours or so. And the mount will die only if you didn't feed it for 20-30 hours. I think it is acceptable because if you didn't feed it for 20-30 hours, you obviously don't care about your mount. I don't think it is harsh.
BTW, Pet's wouldn't cost more with the new skill system. It is 20g to learn the skill and 80g to buy the mount. Also, with the mount tamers, the prices of mounts should drop. Besides, weaker/slower mounts will be cheaper while stronger/faster mounts will be expensive if they do this way.
If the mounts are not going to age and die with the system I proposed, then there will be a huge issue. Because the mount tamers can aquire more mounts and each person can keep multiple mounts, then new aquired mounts will overflow the market. The only way to stabilize the mounts is for them to age and die.

How would your idea fit in with the tauren. I wouldnt really call it fair for other races to get faster or better mounts while the tauren is stuck with just it self. You would have to rework the tauren completely. (mount wise.)

Any aspect that FORCES you to lose something that you spend 100 gold on is harsh. i dont cair if you didnt feed the pet for a year it should never slow down and it should never die. and ageing the pet to kill it off is just as harsh. ya it mite help the econimy but its going to piss off alot of players. this is after all a game that should be fun for everyone. you have to consider ppl that arnt going to be playing all the time. for theas ppl 100 gold is more like 1000 gould. and no matter how you cut the pie 100 gold is a huge chunk of change to thow on something that your going to lose no matter what you do.
i agree, mounts should be able to hold items. for example they should be able to have baldes put on the side of them to attack people as u run by them or something along those lines. Also Engineers should be able to make mounts like mechanostrides and other mounts
I agree with alot of what you say, except the mount dieing part. I think the mounts should be eternal, because if one were to die, then they would have to pay much more for another mount and it wouldnt be very fair.
Too much work over a stupid horse. It would be beyond annoying. Its annoying enough to play hunter and feed pet feed arrows repair and still try to profit from my farming run.
You basically created a time sink that would annoy us to all hell..especially for high levels in the new battlegrounds...the last thing we want to do is deal with a dead horse..or feeding him while 40 ally are just over the hill...
Not workable with the system in place now. Not practical...and more annoying.

I think u have some great ideas i dont like the idea of ur pet dying either though. But i love of the idea of having to train pets as a profession. At first u would ony be able to make innactive pets like the mechanical squerrel and the cat. Then as u progress be able to tame larger beast for fighting with and or mounts. Cool idea opens up a whole new ballpark.
i agree with yod on everythin cept the age part n the death part they should age but they shouldnt die and its not fair dif mounts go faster they should all b able 2 go the same speed
Teach it some tricks lol. That'd be pretty funny. But if your mount dies, isnt it expensive to get another? Maybe if they did put that in the game it shouldn't die just get mad and hurt you or something. I dunno just taking shots in the dark here.
