Master Looter Posts: 2314 Joined: 4 Feb 2004 | Figure Dragon Hunter would be for Hunter... like Demon Hunter. ~Blademaster - Orc Warrior meh, more to come. |
Master Looter Posts: 1185 Joined: 11 Oct 2003 | I wish I had a nickle for every time I heard the Necromancer mentioned when talking about hero classes. But uh.. Dragon Hunter, not bad. But still a little bit copycat of the Demon Hunter. |
Master Looter Posts: 2314 Joined: 4 Feb 2004 |
Actually, it might be a copycat, but it's actually a neat idea. I think it would be AWESOME if Hunters can pick a special group of things to hunt (Demons, Dragons, etc.), each with their own distinct look, and maybe a few select moves which make them different from their other counterparts. A dragon hunter could be somewhat of a Dragoon-ish character, while a Demon Hunter would have to go through what Illidan did, etc. It's actually not bad... |
Master Looter Posts: 1185 Joined: 11 Oct 2003 | Yeah and all the classes Hunters could become (Demon Hunter, Dragon Hunter...) Would all begin with a 'D'.
Just kidding |
Apprentice Posts: 8 Joined: 10 Aug 2004 | You know with all this talk about what race/class will be THIS hero, ive heard many, MANY of suggestions but i have not heard one person list off a race/class that would turn into a Revenant. I think they are one of the coolest looking creeps in WC3, how cool would it be to be one of them i can only imagine. But hopefully when Blizz implements the HERO idea it will not let anyone down (which it prolly wont considering blizz's reputation) :D WOuld like to hear some feedback about this idea, So layout your ideas and maybe we WILL BE HEARD!! |
Master Looter Posts: 2314 Joined: 4 Feb 2004 | My guess would be undead mage for that one. |
Looking For Group Posts: 196 Joined: 21 Mar 2004 | the dragon hunter should have a spell that would make him turn intop a dragon for a wile. that would be sweet. |
Master Looter Posts: 2314 Joined: 4 Feb 2004 | ...that's like having a bounty hunter turn into a criminal for a while... sort of redundant, dont you think? If he saw his reflection he might kill himself. |
Killed 10 Boars Posts: 18 Joined: 11 Aug 2004 | I thought this was gonna be about how to get heros like the 20 on the WoW site on blizzard. But i think that the heros should be bigger and diffrent looking but still the same outline like heros in WC3:TFT. Not much diffrence but should still stick out enough so people reconize them. Also i think they should have to undergo a lot of work to become a hero. |

The bolded part I don't really get. What? As for the 'undergo a lot of work to become a hero', you're right. The current way things are is that when characters want to become heros (not yet in the game), they have to be at max level, and they have to do a HUGE BIG GIGANTIC TOUGH quest to become one. That's about all that's known. =P |
Looking For Group Posts: 196 Joined: 21 Mar 2004 | dragon hunters should have a spell that turns them in to a dargon becuase deamon hunters have a spell that turn them into a deamon.(logic) |
Power Leveler Posts: 3599 Joined: 29 Sep 2003 | Errr well the only reason Illidan had a demon ultimate is because in his heart he really was a demon (Thus explaining his transformation to demon in TFT). |
How I Mine 4 Fish? Posts: 82 Joined: 17 May 2004 | I like the idea about how hunters could turn into a Demon hunter, Dragon hunter, something like that. It reminds me of how on NWN you can pick a certain type of monster that you are good at killing. I know this isn't really related but it brought to mind that when hunters take a hero class that then is when they can take a "specialty". This could be like Demons, Dragons, Gryphons, Giants ect.... not every beast but only the really cool majestic ones that are very powerful and unique. |
Master Looter Posts: 2159 Joined: 30 Mar 2004 | I just like the idea of those who reach max level, and put in a large amount of work on a very difficult, very specific quest, can become a new class that would differentiate them from everyone else, make them special in recognition of all the work put in with leveling and the individual quest itself. Kind of saying "you've reached the peak of your class, here is your reward." |
Looking For Group Posts: 196 Joined: 21 Mar 2004 | yeah that a cool idea huters can become a giant hunter, dragon hunter, element hunter exsedra. each would have spells that do extra dam. to that type of mob [Edited by the_big_dig at 2:58 PM on 8/19/2004] |

Adventurer Posts: 496 Joined: 29 Oct 2003 | Anyhoo... Should be a Technowarrior or some such - an engineering fighter (gnome/dwarf with engineering) that has some special abilities like the goblin whatchamacallit. Brewmaster - abilities like pandaren, have to drink a lot or some such and have cooking. Beastmaster, have to have tamed all different manner of beasts (hunter specific obviously) and learned the intracacies of teaching tricks - the powers being learning some powerful new tricks to teach yer pets and being able to use two pets maybe. Bane of undead - paladin specific, have to have killed many undead etc, get some nifty powers especially useful against undead (though problematic for pvp of course... perhaps only useful against undead bound to the lich king, which are fundamentally different in that they dont have free will (or so the lore goes). Blizzard should use that concept more to deal with this problem. anyway back to topic at hand.. hmm a quick list Knight Protector - Alliance warrior/paladin extra defensive skills, big tankity tank tank Battlemaster - Horde warrior - gets some paladin like auras, good at leading into battle etc. must have led many successful battles in pvp or big raids etc Spymaster - rogue, stealth spec'd increase stealth abilities and new backstab attack. Archmage of course... dunno lots of things I think there should be TONS of options here so that there are never more than a few of the same hero class, because to me these are the people that are the leaders on the server- the kings and queens of azeroth, the leaders of the horde armies, or the most powerful mages etc.... people like arthas and what not. Granted that means i will most like never personally participate in this content but hey, such is life. This is how i imagine hero classes, little things that you need to do, plus completing some major quests solo (little things like always have alcohol with ya and drinkin from time to time, and having cooking profession or whatever.... or for demon hunter knowing demon tongue, and having a demon as your main pet or some such if this is possible) |
Master Looter Posts: 2314 Joined: 4 Feb 2004 | I'd like to see the Warlock's pet arsenal change with their hero classes. Examples: Warlock --> Afflictor (heavily specialized in Affliction Tree) A torturer would have forfeit all of the DD spells for quick DoT spells (like the priests mind flay) and long lasting DoT spells (like the warlock currently has). They would be mainly a DoT/CC class, for long battles. They'd forfeit all pets except for succubus and felhunter. Warlock --> Demonologist (heavily specialized in Demonolgy Tree) A demonologist would work primarily through his pets, forfeiting spells like demon skin and demon armor, in exchange for an arsenal of new pet abilities and maybe even a new pet: Doomguard. In exchange, they would rely on their pets for defense as well as offense, giving them a few other drawbacks in exchange for their pets enhancements. Warlock --> Destroyer (heavily specialized in Destruction Tree) A destroyer would forfeit all pets except Imp and Infernal, allowing him to become sort of a Shadow Mage. Given a few more DD spells, their DoT spells are reduced by 25% and they are given more upgrades to things like Demon Skin, Banish, and everything that would make them more of a nuking class. Those are just examples. |
Master Looter Posts: 2692 Joined: 5 Nov 2003 | Seems like a good idea to me. And that joke about the bounty hunter cracked me up, Judgement:D I always liked the Red Dragon Disciple from Neverwinter Nights. It was a hero/prestige class for sorcerors (NWN mages) and as you gained Disciple levels, you got natural armor (dragon hide skin), a fire breath ability, and wings. (useless, but it looked cool). You also eventually got nightvision, and several immunities. I think blizzard could manage to adapt the concept without getting all copycat. http://nwn.bioware.com/underdark/prestige_dragondisciple.html |

While I wouldn't count on an exact replica (as you stated above), I'm sure they know about this. My main reason for saying this is, if you read War of the Ancients 1 and 2 and/or Day of the Dragon, one of the main characters IS a Dragon Mage. edit: yeah, when I crack a joke, everyone laughs... or else. (referring to all the judgement owns j00 posts) ;-) [Edited by Judgement at 10:27 AM on 10/31/2004] |

Basically, what Cracker is trying to say is that you spent all that time getting to your max level, which may take some ppl days, weeks, months, years, of putting off family, friends, job, and all the other essentials of life in order to get there. Now, you've spent all this time and can get the HERO class now, which is really nothing more than a status symbol at this point since you can't really level with it. Also, if you've already gotten to you're max level, it's almost a sure bet that you've already taken the time to get all the 'leet loot' in the game. To offset this, they should have the HERO class start over as a lvl 1 HERO and add some special quests and stuff like that, maybe have an additional 20 lvls specifically for the HERO class and new uber abilities depending on what HERO class you are. HERO specific quests would also be a must. |
