Dungeon Crawler Posts: 557 Joined: 1 Dec 2003 | I think centaurs would be an interesting addition. |
Master Looter Posts: 1903 Joined: 10 Nov 2003 | oh man, the ultimate race would be... THE TITANS they were the ones that formed azeroth. they might be a tad too powerful though. Also, it would be cool to make the Trolls there own race, on a side note. If they ever make anouther WC stratagy game, the races could be somthing like this and be awesome Humans, high elves, Dwarfs, Night elves, Blood Elves, Naga, Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Forsaken, Scourge, and Demons. How insane would 12 races be? would be difficult to balance though, but, blizzard is awesome, they could do it. |
Looking For Group Posts: 196 Joined: 21 Mar 2004 | heck yeah 12 races would be sweet! |
Master Looter Posts: 2384 Joined: 28 Sep 2003 | Yeah there would be a ton of diversity and the most difficult challenge would be to balance all the races while at the same time let them retain their unique attributes. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 788 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | It could be done from a theoretical standpoint. But I don't think even blizzard could pull off 12 races in a rts game. I suppose the strategy could be taken out of the types of troops and put into where you go with them and the terrain. In that way every race could have a really sweet handfull of units which would then suck or kickass based on the particular map position. Hills, goldmines, etc. /eh |

Apprentice Posts: 4 Joined: 9 Apr 2004 | warlords battlecry 2 while not as pretty as warcraft had many playable races (wont say how many cause i forget but way more than 4) so it can be done. |
Looking For Group Posts: 142 Joined: 27 Feb 2004 | A race that hasn't been in WarCraft 3 before... |
Master Looter Posts: 1903 Joined: 10 Nov 2003 | i played warlords battlecry 1, and, that game lacked alot in my opinion. was fun, but, nothing up to blizzards standards |

Adventurer Posts: 367 Joined: 4 Dec 2003 | Why in the world does everybody like Dark Elves? The next time I play D&D with a newbie and he says " Wow, the Drow dudes look like Dark Elves, I wanna be them !" I am going to punch them in the face. |
Killed 10 Boars Posts: 15 Joined: 3 May 2004 | i would rather se pit lords as a race, and they shouldent be in the alliance or the horde, they should form their owen group along with the forsaken, that unfortunally are with the horde right now |
Adventurer Posts: 218 Joined: 10 Jan 2004 | ...wtf...do the night elves not look the part of a damn drow already?? hmm races races races...well, lemme think,....lizardmen(IKSAR MONK 4EVA) |
Killed 10 Boars Posts: 14 Joined: 16 May 2004 | It seems ogres and blood/high elves are in high demand for the expansion. |

LoL, ogres and high elves are obviously some of the races that i'm sure they will add in game expansion... I think they will add also the draenei... |
Master Looter Posts: 2166 Joined: 14 Dec 2003 | I would love to see a mix of races, like Half-Elf, or Half-Orc. Also the Dasadar, they're a Human like race, dark skin, exelent thieves and Assains and imume to all posions. |

Looking For Group Posts: 196 Joined: 21 Mar 2004 | lol, sheep men how about something that looks like yoda for star wars |
Master Looter Posts: 2692 Joined: 5 Nov 2003 | Yup, revenge of the Yodamen:p Could be a Stand-alone game. Or a Star Wars spinoff. I like the idea of a warcraft RTS with a multitude of races. But to make the game a actual possibility, each race would have to have only a few differents units each (say, some have five units, and some have six or seven), and flying should be considered to be left out. Unit cap should be 20 units or so. By using small maps, this would create an intense game of small encounters, just like the first strikes in Starcraft matches. I think it would have been lots of fun. No heroes. Example: A worker, melee fighter, a ranged unit, a caster, some kind of siege'ish device, and a high-end unit. Some would have more casters, but not as powerful melee fighters, and just like WC3, there would be differences in the units at each race. And I am serious about the no-hero, no-airpower topic. And the idea with making the terrain real important was IMO great. Elephant grass, forests, you name it. Just my ideas though. My fav race: Blood Elves. |
Master Looter Posts: 2159 Joined: 30 Mar 2004 | I expect to see some new races in future WoW expansions. I'd like to see Blood Elves and Naga, and I know there is a huge Pandaren following. I know Blizzard has plans from the start to have 2-3 expansions, and designed WoW with that in mind, rather than adding everything as an afterthought and screwing a lot of previous content up like Everquest did. |
Master Looter Posts: 2692 Joined: 5 Nov 2003 | I thought they weren't going to add new races. ever. Altought I would like to have BE, WoW does has enough races already IMO |
Master Looter Posts: 2159 Joined: 30 Mar 2004 | From a design standpoint, expansions should have new content for people from level 1 through level 60, so that casual gamers who enjoy starting new characters repeatedly have a new race and new starting area to play with. This is why I think that at least one of the expansions will have a new race, and it'd be a good idea for EVERY expansion to add a new race. Plus it just adds diversity to the game. |
Ding! (Grats!) Posts: 47 Joined: 3 Jun 2004 | High elves would be cool, but ogres? eh mabey. Draenei realy don't have a huge role in wc, so theres not much you can do w/ them (from an rp standard) |
Adventurer Posts: 470 Joined: 25 May 2004 | It would be mad if there was a murloc race in WoW :). |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 788 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | On the other hand, if instead of wasting unique content on lower levels (like 1-25/35) they made extra content for the high levels, people might not want to make so many characters. |
Master Looter Posts: 2159 Joined: 30 Mar 2004 | Despite being a hardcore gamer myself (3 characters to 65 in Everquest, for example) I still know a number of people who, after years in EQ, never took a character beyond 40. One guy had SIX rogues pre-40. Some just don't enjoy the endgame of mmorpgs, hence my reason that SOME new content is needed in each expansion for every level range. It would be a good idea to have more content for the level 60 crowd than the level 10 crowd, but there is still a need for both. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 788 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | Please, EQ doesn't count. That is the point, you could take the exact same content/quests they continue to add at early levels, scale the level of the mobs/rewards up to higher levels, and make it content for people's main characters. People didn't enjoy high level content in eq because they changed content. They had this notion that everything you do with a level 50 should be 10 times as much trouble and half the relative reward of what you do at lower levels. I don't see a reason for this. Once you have enough content for poeple to play 2, maybe 3 at most, new characters through the lower levels, they needn't add anymore, ever. New players will have more than they can chew, and old players really only need so many characters. Why did your friend not like high level with his rogue? Probably because they made the game get crappier and crappier the higher you get. I know thats why I had so many main characters. Why is there this predominant rule that getting a single level in the 50s needs to take weeks and weeks on end, with very little reward for players during those weeks? I never understood it, and I've never had anyone come close to convincing me that the near impossible end-game is a good idea. To me it is just a developer trick to drag out an end-game that isn't fully supported by things to do, so they make people grind longer and longer. |
Master Looter Posts: 2159 Joined: 30 Mar 2004 | You completely missed my point. My point is that there are people who ONLY play the lower level content. So after they've played a character from 1-30 four times and are starting their fifth, they deserve new content as much as someone who has played one character the whole of his world of warcraft experience. I agree with you that higher level content doesn't need to be 10 times as much trouble as lower level content, and that there needs to be more new high level content than new low level content, but there still needs to be low level content with every expansion. Its a proven fact that there are people who only play lower level content, and they deserve at least something new as much as those people who only play high end content. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 788 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | No no, I got the point, I just think the underlying reason they play 1-30 4-5 is because of the change that content undergoes as it goes higher and higher in level. I guess I just have a strong feeling that most, if not all, of the people who remain low level forever, do so because of the outrageous difficulty of the content at those levels. I mean, if you look at a game like AC1 or 2 you find alot less people doing the only low level thing (or at least that is my own experience) and those games don't have that endless 50 hour grind and growing feeling that your character is getting weaker with each level as opposed to stronger (as compared to the monsters). Even a super-powerfull class like the eq necro you would start weak, get stronger, stronger, stronger, and then around 30 or (at least back in kunark when I played a necro) you just feel like even though you get a new skeleton pet, drain, lich, etc they are weaker at that level than your old set was at its level. Sorry if I didn't explain myself better. Out of curiousity, have you asked your friend why he prefers the lower levels, I'd be interested to know if it fits my assumptions or not. |
