If you dont enjoy the game, or you dont understand why others do, dont force yourself to assimilate, or to relate. Ether its for you or its not.

Lastly, if you think these games are stupid, such as the poster above me, then get off MMo fan sites dumbass.

This.

And I didn't mean that I don't enjoy the community aspect. I personaly am not happy unless I'm banging my head against a brick wall(Lineage 2)or spending more time on a calculator than actually playing(EVE). There are games for every taste and play style.

And to GodofGame67: So I should kick down $60 for CoD4 and finish it in 5 hours? STFU.

For that same $60 I can play an MMO for 4 months. And guess what...most update for free!

No you should pay 60 bucks for CoD 4 and finish it in some hours and play it again on hardest, after which you spend lots of time on the multiplayer. (Eventhough this is a very bad example as CoD 4 is a very poor game)

NEW EXAMPLE: You should pay 20 or 30 bucks for the Orange Box and finish it in 25 or so hours, maybe play some again and more for achievements and proceed with Team Fortress 2. Guaranteed to be the most fun in a multiplayer shooter you've ever had. (Fun as in having fun, not fun as in 'z0mg i r teh pwning nubz'

It's not wrong. You spend 79 levels killing boars of different names, shapes and sizes or collecting boar meat in different names, shapes and sizes. Once you get to level 80 you spend your time killing boars of different names, shapes and sizes or collecting boar meat in different names, shapes and sizes for the same faction of people for weeks so they like you enough to give you an item that will make people (hopefully) choose you for raids and instance.

All this fun for a nominal fee. I'm stuck at level 70 and really can't bear to go on but that's just my view.

It's like a drug, it's not necessarily fun all of the time, but you can't stop playing.

Warcraft just got BAD after the original trilogy.

There is nothing wrong with finding this game boring. In fact, you and I should hang out.

It's not wrong to get bored of World of Warcraft. I got bored... eventually.

I've been playing WoW for 2 years round about, and still have not convinced friends to join. But I sorta go through troughs and peaks where I play everyday, then not for about a month. Mostly it is tedious eventually.

No, cause it is. Not to mention repetitive.

If you didn't enjoy it after 30 days then i doubt you'll enjoy it. Although if it is the community aspect you're looking for, i wouldn't try grabbing a few groups on WoW (That is more likely to make you hate MMO communities forever), i'd try a different MMO. As in my opinion WoW has the worst community aspect of my MMO due to the rampant morons and the fact that about 75% or more of the population are already lvl 80. I played the game to like lvl 45 and tried many different guilds and didn't manage to find one that held my interest.

Although on the flipside of that comment, if the community aspect you're after is purely with your real life friends, i'd probably give it a second stab, ask them to help you out and show you the ropes a bit (assuming they didn't already). Another big factor is that once you are paying and not on a trial period they can buy you shiny weapons and armour, and games are generally more fun when you're spanking that boar in 2 hits instead of hitting it for 5 mins.

If you were just playing it "as a game to try", then yeah refer to my first statement.

Also to name a few MMO's around before WOW: FFXI, EVE, Earth and Beyond, Everquest, Ultima Online (i think), also perhaps Lineage I and/or II?

Why I quit.

But it's the reason you quit playing any game really.

MoonPenguin:
It typically takes a bit more than the 30 day trial for WOW, especially if you are a brand new player.

Most of the "fun raids" take place once you get above level 50. The battlegrounds are usually more intense as well.

If you didn't like the core gameplay and quests, you won't find anything different than what your first 30 days gave you.

If it takes more than a month of boredom before it gets fun, doesn't that defeat the purpose of playing the game?

Everyone finds something boring.
WoW isn't an exception and is rather boring.

There is minimal activities for you to do until you reach near the max levels other than grind. Grinding is boring. The only thing WoW really has for a hook is the end game content. Until you get to the end game you're pretty much twiddling your thumbs waiting for something fun to happen.

Oh sure there are little PVP things after you hit level 10 or so but even then you still need to get higher level if you want to be able to get anywhere in PVP.

Before I quit, I routinely found wow boring too much grinding and such for my taste. So, if you're the kind of person that hates grinding out everything, you will definitely get bored on a regular basis.

Everyone's different when it comes to MMOs. Personally, the only one I've found that I enjoy is Kingdom of Loathing (which is mainly single player anyway)

I suppose it all depends on whether you're playing the game solo or with your friends.

WoW is a social game.

When i first got into WoW, it was too play with a group of about 9 close friends, and we had a blast. It's a nice variation on keeping in contact with old college buddies and such.. Instead of chatting via MSN messenger, we get to chat while grouping up to kill giant monsters.

As time has gone by, some of these friends have left, but i've also made new acquaintances in-game, so i guess i always have people to game with and talk to.

If you try to grind the thing out solo from the very start, i could see you easily getting bored of it quite quickly. It can be a frustrating experience.
