Most of the "fun raids" take place once you get above level 50. The battlegrounds are usually more intense as well. If you didn't like the core gameplay and quests, you won't find anything different than what your first 30 days gave you. |

Lies! Deadmines as my Druid on Scarlet Crusade was the most fun I've ever had in a single instance in WoW.

There are alot of people that love WoW. I don't. But...I started playing MMO's waaaay before WoW came along(there were many). I have a hunch that for alot of the players of WoW it is/was their first MMO. Almost every person I personaly know that plays the game had never played ANYTHING online before. It's really too bad, as the simplicity and ease of advancement has ruined them for alot of other games. On the flip side, games like UO, Lineage 2 and EVE have ruined me for games like WoW(thank God). I guess what I am getting at is: Even though your friends all like it, you may not. No matter how long you play. Some people need to be challenged on an individual level and not so much by the race to 80 with everyone else. |

Im starting to see a trend of people posting on this "mmo fan site" that dont even enjoy mmo's, baffles the mind. However, unlike Hemi's perspective, Ive been playen mmo's sense they were created, and I personaly enjoy the community aspect. Also, the fact that WOW isent "super hardcore leet", is ok with me. I personaly enjoy using my knowledge of mmo concepts to help the new players have fun. I also find that, despite the very common lable of wow being full of annoying assholes (all online games are, if thats what you focus on) , the lack of hardcore people on the more casual servers is a welcome break from hardcore games with only open pvp servers, which cater to the crowd that gets there jolly's from making your experiance as hateful as possible. On the flip side, I think if you realy enjoy the idea of mmo's in gerneral, its hard to satisfy all your expectations, actualy its impossible. I think a true enthusiast plays multiple mmo's and gets certain values from each of them. In my history of mmo's ive found that it usualy takes less then a week to see if i will realy invest in a subscription, and then another month of solid gaming to determine if ill stay for the long haul. If you dont enjoy the game, or you dont understand why others do, dont force yourself to assimilate, or to relate. Ether its for you or its not. Lastly, if you think these games are stupid, such as the poster above me, then get off MMo fan sites dumbass. |

This. And I didn't mean that I don't enjoy the community aspect. I personaly am not happy unless I'm banging my head against a brick wall(Lineage 2)or spending more time on a calculator than actually playing(EVE). There are games for every taste and play style. And to GodofGame67: So I should kick down $60 for CoD4 and finish it in 5 hours? STFU. For that same $60 I can play an MMO for 4 months. And guess what...most update for free! |

There are things you can play for free, and games that don't cost you much but let you play for a long time... Speaking of which, I wish Valve would try their hand at an MMO, it might be fun. I just hope to god they wouldn't make us pay monthly... But it might be another WoW, which isn't hard enough and costs money for each expansion, month, and to make an account, after buying the game. WoW seems to me like a huge rip-off. |

Killed 10 Boars Posts: 19 Joined: 27 Mar 2009 | I think as with all MMO it takes more than 30 days to truly get the real feel for a game. Many MMO that I have played it has taken me a considerable amount of time to get to the higher levels and to enjoy all that they really have to offer. WoW is just one of those MMOs that takes time to get the full enrichment of the game. All that set aside, I also want to chime in that I do not like WoW. I have found the game to be drastically reduced in the lvl of IQ you need to be able to play. I prefer more challenges in MMO games. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 890 Joined: 7 Aug 2006 | Strange that people consider $15 a month alot of money, thats about 50 cents a day. If this were the arcade days you would spend that much in a matter of minutes, but in an mmo, 50 cents technicly pays for 24 hours. If theres anything you spend cash on daily, you probably get more then 50 cents in spare change back from that, or lost under your car seat or couch cushions. It might just be my opinion, but if you cant afford 50 cents a day for a game, you probably cant afford the internet you are currently using, or any offline game you like. Just to be clear, i have played and or currently have most of the free alternatives installed, aside from the MO's that arent quite MMO's, such as guildwars and Diablo(s),and they are usualy filled with spam, people who dont speak english, are sparsly populated, or are nearly dependant on cash shops after a certain point.(this also exculdes the "MO's mentioned above) |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 741 Joined: 28 Jul 2004 | Ahhh Shizzie! Way to pour lemon juice on a paper cut! I have spent years trying to block out my days of pumping quarters into those damn things. I seriously could have a new car in the drive way if I had saved all that money. It was fun though, spending an afternoon in the local arcade playing Dragon's Lair or Asteroids Deluxe with a gang of your friends. Seemed to be alot more "social" than even the best of the MMO communities. |

which leads me to 1 of the main reasons i play WOW, dont need a credit card, and easy to get the time cards at stores.Other games offer time cards but are much less available. |

Adventurer Posts: 323 Joined: 18 Feb 2009 | MMOs are massive time sinks. If you find that boring (and many do) then it's not for you. I played an MMO for a bit, got burned out from the grinding day in and out. Switched over to EVE to see if it was any better. It wasn't. That sub won't last long either. In short, no it's not wrong to think WoW is boring. |
Looking For Group Posts: 103 Joined: 24 Mar 2009 | Answering the topic question: To be very blunt, no. It is not wrong for you to be entitled to your opinion. Just because many other people enjoy something doesn't mean that you have to enjoy it. Answering the first post: If at the end of thirty days you were still playing, that means that you were enjoying it on some level. Still, thirty days is a fairly long time. If it hadn't grown on you by then I have one question. Did you ever play with a group? If you only did solo quests I would suggest trying one more time but making sure that you frequently play with other people because that is what separates MMOs from other video games. If you had done that, I think you should just realize that it's not your cup of tea. Logic is the answer to all problems. |
Master Looter Posts: 1775 Joined: 22 Mar 2009 | Well... I have to admit, I was pretty caught up in WoW until I hit 80. The fun of getting enough decent gear to get you to the next level had turned into getting the best gear just for the sake of getting the best gear. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 795 Joined: 11 Jan 2009 | My experience of WoW was playing on a private server. There you leveled extremely quickly, so you got most of your abilities first few hours of game play, I honestly got bored really quickly. I wouldn't really be able to compare since our experiences are significantly different. |

Master Looter Posts: 1726 Joined: 20 Mar 2008 | I've sort of been meaning to give WoW another shot one of these days. I played the free trial back before Burning Crusade, and it seemed a bit dull. But, after some reflection, that may not have been an adequate time to really get a sense of the game. It was mostly the system of weapons' degradation that confounded me at first. Also, fresh out of the Warcraft womb, I found myself grinding against spiders and small woodland creatures. Perhaps next time I'll play as an Undead character. Less chance of falling off a balcony in the Night Elf homeland... |

I played Ultima Online and Everquest and both to me were boring and took themselves too seriously. The thing I always liked about WoW is that it's a game and Blizzard has treated it as such. I don't feel like I'm forced to swallow a bunch of dry fantasy muck, but sometimes if that's what I want I can get it. At the same time, while every aspect isn't fine tuned to a super-balanced perfection whatever, there's a limit where I just don't care. Although I'm curious, aside from Ultima Online and Everquest, what MMO's came significantly before WoW? Not that I'm doubting you but I'm curious. Plus I'm bad with timelines. Oh, I just remembered another I played which I didn't like at the time but it might have been better had I been older, Phantasy Star Online. |

That seems like an awful lot of work to put in to get to the "fun part". I love World of Warcraft but I've never played it (and have less than zero desire to); my wife plays, and her spending time raiding with her guild means I don't have to worry about her nagging me while I'm playing MY games! --- |

*sigh* the problem is my patience level is such that there's absolutely no way I'm going to bother to grind that high, Its just way to tedious for me. Also I have a dislike of subscription fees. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 534 Joined: 13 Jun 2008 | WoW is a good game for its social aspect along with a bit of immersion. I went with being a druid, since I love animals, and honestly, turning into a bear or a cat is pretty fun. Anyway, stick with it and explore a little. I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 649 Joined: 8 May 2009 | wow is definately not fun until level 80. i have 3 level 80s, getting from lvl 1-80 is the biggest pain there is, the only real excitement in the game is fighting the endgame bosses in raids, or pvping i guess if ur into that kinda thing O_O, but until you get to level 80 you will not have fun in wow. i know i didnt. Dungeon Crawler Posts: 692 Joined: 22 Dec 2008 | I still fail to see how people say there is so much grind in wow. There can be a little but I've found it the least grind of any MMO, and even if I get bored with quests there's plenty of other things you can do to keep your attention. Even the quests have a good bit of variety in them, there are plenty of fetch, kill and escort quests but there are some pretty original ones too, including some of the dailies, the flying quests, most of the Death Knight quests, and so on. Plus everyone seems to forget that there is actually a plot going on here. There's a long-running story that you can follow that is as good as you could want out of something like this. I will say, though, that playing with friends/a good guild helps a lot. The social aspect is what got me into it. Bah, I got sidetracked now... There's no reason you can't think World of Warcraft is boring. To some people it is, and oh well. I still think it's worth experiencing at least a good bit of it first, and if 30 days doesn't do it for you then you probably won't be into it. |
PROBATION Posts: 4450 Joined: 19 Feb 2009 | It's not wrong, try to get into a good guild, that will make it more fun but if you don't like it then it's just because your tastes in games differ from others. User was put on probation for: People who think they are Vampires. (3 days) There are some days when you just feel like visiting an old folk's home wearing a black cloak and wielding a scythe. |
Power Leveler Posts: 3597 Joined: 14 Jan 2009 | The funnest part of the game starts when you're level capped, or if you're playing with your friends... |
Master Looter Posts: 2770 Joined: 13 Feb 2008 | Most definitely not. When something is there for people's entertainment, like WoW is, then it is simply a matter of opinion to think that it is boring or uninteresting. It's just like how I find baseball and baske- actually, most organized sports - to be boring. Status screen text: -Mount and Blade |
Epic’d Out Posts: 5076 Joined: 23 Mar 2009 | Nothing wrong with getting bored with it. I love the game, and I still get bored after a few months at a time. If the game overall gets boring...well, that's understandable, too. It appeals more to some people, less to others. Nothing wrong with either side. Wait, we have signatures? |

I didn't find any topics like this when I searched so I assumed it was alright to post. I played my 30 day trial and I really couldn't be bothered to say that I was actually having fun. So I should ask the community of the game if it is wrong to think wow is boring for a short sample, or should I give it more time to grow on me, because I like RPG's and all of my friends play it and love it.
