I have chosen a wand for my lock due to the higher DPS But im almost 20 now and my weapon has been the greater magic wand for ever. When do i get a wand better then 17.5 DPS? I know there is wands like "Cookies stiring stick" But Im new to the game and dont have a guild to help me get it nor do i have the gold to buy it. The only wand that is comming up that is better is the lvl 20 wand with a "spit in the eye" 17.6 DPS. oh boy! So is wand the best way to go? I dont want to go staff cause i dont want to lose the ability to hold stat items in my off hand. Yeah i can use my nuke spells but 1. im a demon lock and 2. i HATE the interuptions. Nothing like your life slowly slipping away and you cant get your spells off. Now that i think about it since wands dont get interupted like spells do then my wand still has a higher DPS then my spells LOL. So what are my options? Soloing is becomming a tad harder now that i havnt had a decent DPS upgrade for almost 7 lvls now. Oh as a side note is there a type of wand that suites locks best? [aka Arcane dmg vs shadow dmg vs fire dmg?]

First...not sure if you meant this to be a bit confusing, but you can use a wand *and* carry a staff. I just wouldn't recommend using a staff instead of wand. Staves (and all melee weapons) can be disarmed, wands (being a ranged weapon) can't.

Second...yes the greater wand is going to last you a while. This is because the lower level enchanter made wands are way over the top in dps compared to anything else.

I think I was level 23ish before I switched out my greater magic wand.

If you're a demon build, does this mean you have your imp or succubus out instead of your void? I personally grind with my void because he can tank for me while I do the dps. But ofcoarse styles do vary.

The type of wand you use isn't relevant unless and until you're fighting mobs that are immune to a certain type of damage...ie, fire elementals, etc. Just pick the highest dps. I'd go for some stats on the wand before pluses to other types of damage since they're usually not made for lock/priests with added shadow damage.

I know you're a demon build, but honestly soloing is a lot easier if you go affliction, dot it, have you void hold aggro and then wand it to death.

Try and get a group together for Blackfathom Deeps. There is a Quest wand in there, the Gravestone Scepter, which will last you a very long time.

There's an alternative way to avoid spell interruption. The right affliction talent build and the use of Voidwalker can be a solution to your problem. Wands can be handy in low levels, but eventually they'll become a very slow way to grind.

The affliction build I mentioned will probably only become effective once you get 5 points on Fel Concentration - from then on you can channel Drain Life with a few DoT's on your target (Corruption, Curse of Agony, Immolate and later Siphon Life) and you should end your combats with either high or full hp. At the same time, your Voidwalker will be taking aggro way from you for a while.

Once you get deep in the affliction talent school, you will learn Dark Pact, which will be a massive improvement in your grinding skills. The imp is the most appropriate demon to use Dark Pact with, since it has the highest mana pool. Even though it can't taunt your enemy target, it increases your stamina and works as a "mana fountain".

Back in the day we could spam wand in between the weapon swings? Is this no longer the way?
