Posts: 42 Joined: 26 Jan 2004 | i like the sound of a dark or lighter path, becuase it adds a bit more character to the hero... Like i once was holy then turned...(i.e- still worship god, just think that if u want things done around here u gotta walk in the shadows sometimes) Or like a templer (took more enlightment to become closer to god). Plus great for RPing. |

Posts: 1903 Joined: 10 Nov 2003 | Im not sure about Palidans becomeing knights becouse knights are allied to the scourge, and palidans who becomse knights are no longer part of the aliance. but then again, the horde is allowing Warlocks, so, who knows. |

Posts: 262 Joined: 4 Feb 2004 | It may not make sense for Paladins to be dark, but it would be a lot of fun :) As for the paladin hero, maybe a paladin could choose to be a undead hunter or evilslayer? This way they could further their goals of purging evil from the land. Just a thought. |

Posts: 2384 Joined: 28 Sep 2003 | EQ is a totally different game my friend, prestige classes in this game give people something to aim for, not to mention they make the higher mobs easier than they would otherwise be. The paladin class will have a prestige class I assure you. |

Later they added in Alternate Advancement points, which worked kinda like WoW's talent points. EQ levels gave you only some health/mana, and then at 51 you could start gaining AA points to spend on such things as stats( Str,Int,Agi) or improving other aspects( faster regen, faster running speed, etc). At 55 with new title, now came new skills(improved mana regen, higher chance to crit), and finally at 59 came the specific class skills, which for paladin was such things as 2 hand bash, allowing bash usage(with lowered damage) while using a 2 hander, and an undead slayer type skill that allowed for some massive damage crits against undead. Which has me wondering how high end WoW will do it, since we get the Talent points all along, aside from raids, pvp and sinking what few skill points you have remaining into a new tradeskill while buffing newbies, what will there be left to do but work towards a prestige class? AA points gave new life to EQ's end game, there was finally a reason to solo/group again, because once you run into a dead end on progress, interest starts to wain. But with the AA points removing the dead end, i once again had a reason to still form guild groups or meet new people in pickup groups, or just solo again. I think to max the AA skills it took over 500 points, which would take a very long time to get. I think only a few players have maxed them, i personally only had like 30 aa points when i quit EQ. I didn't play much D&D, so not positive how it works, but their prestige classes were massive changes i think, like around level 10 warriors could become a paladin, with new rules/skills, or continue along the warrior path, gaining new skills. Clerics could become druids i think. But as i've said, i'm curious to see how the hero classes work out. Just a new title, or maybe access to new skills, or maybe the D&D approach which gives the choice of two or more very diverse paths for each high end class. With that said, however, i've no clue what the paladin hero name will actually be. Other games use knights, crusaders, cavaliers, but the only one that ties into Warcraft is knights, but the knights were upgraded human warriors, so it seems more the warrior hero class than paladin. Or death knights, maybe they're the undead warrior hero. Though, and this is a big though, Arthas's progression took him from paladin to death knight, so maybe the KOTOR style light/dark choices for paladins may come into play. The Blackguard (Death Kight) is a pestige class of a Fighter or a Paladin. The more levels you had as a paladin, the more abilities you will get if you turn to a Blackguard. Requirements are... Base Attack Bonus: +6. Alignment: Any evil. Skills: Intimidate 8 ranks. Feats: Power Attack, Cleave. Special: Must have been a knight and violated the knight's code. |
